Revenge Place 4th at CEO Dreamland 2020

by Conner Davey | March 15, 2020

Revenge recently attended CEO Dreamland 2020 in Orlando, Florida between March 13-15 with their newly signed Super Smash Bros. Melee player, Gahtzu.

The Melee Singles bracket started on March 14th with Revenge getting a bye to start their tournament run already in the Winners Quarter-Final.

March 14:

Gahtzu took a swift 2-0 series against Pure, moving Revenge into the Winners Finals to make Top 48 against SDeems. Gahtzu managed to defeat SDeems with a 2-1 series moving Gahtzu and Revenge into Top 48 Winners.

Moving onto Top 48 Winners Round 1, Gahtzu takes a convincing win against Leighton to advance into Top 16 Winners.

The Winners Quarter-Finals to advance into Top 8 was going to be a difficult match as Gahtzu would face off against Smash Studios' very own Colbol and his hard to defeat Fox. Unfortunately we lost the series 0-3 against Colbol, knocking us down into Losers bracket to advance into Top 8. See below for snippets of game two and three against ColBol;

Game 2:

With our unfortunate loss against Colbol, this knocked us down into Losers Round 2 where we would eventually face off against Wevans.

Gahtzu vs Wevans:

Gahtzu went on to defeat Wevans' Samus with a swift 3-0 series, taking us into the Top 8 losers bracket. See snippets from games one-three below;

March 15

Yesterdays game against Wevans brought a close to Revenge's run for March 14 as it was time to start fresh and continue today with the Top 8 bracket games.

Gahtzu vs Krudo:

Gahtzu started the day off strong taking a 3-0 series against Spiral Cafe's very own Krudo and his Sheik. See game snippets below;

Game 3:

After our win against Krudo, it was time to sit and wait patiently as the Winners Semi-Finals were on-going and we were yet to see who our opponent would be. It was either between UYU's n0ne, another Falcon main or Panda, a Fox main.

N0ne managed to defeat Panda 3-1, knocking him down into the Losers Quarter-Finals against our very own Gahtzu.

Panda managed to bring on a very intense game against Gahtzu, nonetheless it was a great series with Gahtzu managing to win the series 3-1 against Panda. See below for game snippets;

The rematch:

With Gahtzu defeating Panda in the Losers Quarter-Final it was time for us to move onto the Losers Semi-Finals, however the match up that we were faced against would prove to be a difficult one. We ended up facing off against Smash Studios' Colbol again, whom originally knocked us down into the Losers bracket with a 0-3 defeat.

Unfortunately this is where our Losers bracket run would come to a halt against Colbol. The series gave a sense of deja vu with Colbol defeating us 0-3, giving us a final placement of 4th. See game snippets below;

Final thoughts:

As this was Gahtzu's second event since CEO 2019, we're extremely pleased with how Gahtzu performed. He has shown that he is one of the top competitors within the Super Smash Bros. Melee community, with more practice and events to attend we're confident that Gahtzu CAN be the best in the whole competitive Smash Bros. Melee community.
